Our Lady of Guadalupe

Right in the middle of Advent is one of our favorite celebrations. Today the church celebrates Our Lady of Guadalupe. My kids loved today's activities.

We started the day with a scavenger hunt for roses that I hid throughout the house. GH was barely awake:)
Rooster loved the scavenger hunt.

We always tell the children that baby Jesus loved his mother Mary. So we must love her too. Even though the statues are only a representation of her she knows when we think of her and so does Jesus. Rooster does love Mary. She tells us all the time that she loves her and wants to be like her. It always makes me smile:)

After Rooster gathered up all the roses, she placed them in front of our Mary statue and said "Look at the roses Mary".
We packed up the children and took them to Lincoln where we had the best breakfast burritos in the world (D'Leons). Staying with the Hispanic theme we also had nachos for dinner;)
Later Rooster presented our outdoor statue of Mary with roses.
GH found this statue of Mary in a back closet this evening. He carried her around for a long time.
Then it was time for the pinata. GH had a blast. Rooster took a few whacks at the pinata.
Then there was candy for everyone.
